May 26th, 2009Politics, UncategorizedNo matter what my head said but my heart was moved by what I had seen tonight. It keeps moving, inevitably.

Rain was falling, so romantic and dramatic. It is a good news and sign I guess. Must be glad with.
May I drop short message to my friend who is out there.
Whatever it was and whatever it will be, I wish you good luck for what you have chosen.
The world is so wide but the path is so narrow now. Walk slowly, calmly, still passionately but with more tolerance.
Most important than anything: keep safe, be safe and stay safe from every cause of dangers.
Hope Thai politic will not be so wilder than it was. Good luck to you and everyone.

May 20th, 2009UncategorizedNEWSMAKERFact checking
Recently, there was a difficult situation for the media when Pheu Thai Party MP Jatuporn Promphan said that PM Abhisit Vejjajiva and Deputy PM Suthep Thaugsuban were not in the car that was attacked by red-shirted protesters at the Interior Ministry last month.
Supinya said the media should truthfully report to the public without any filtration. However, this is a more sensitive issue because the allegation is not only an expression of one opinion, but there is a claim of “fact”. It is thus the duty of the media to make the truth known.

May 18th, 2009Events, Politics, UncategorizedToday , May 17th,

17 years ago, it was important day for political incident in Thailand. May I join the others to commemorate the Black May 1992 and convey my tribute to all late heroes and the disappeared ones who sacrificed their lives to protect Thai democracy. Also my respect to the relatives of all heroes which every year have to come to Suan Santiporn at Ratchadamneun Avenue on 17th May to keep the memory of this incident and the heroes survived.
This year the relatives have expected to hear good news for the progress of the establishment of May 1992 Memorial which is just about to be constructed.Last Sunday on May 10th, I joined the panel discussion on the topic ‘The Lesson-learned from Black May 1992′.
From this event, I was touched by the speech of Ms.Pratabjit Neelapaijit, the daughter of missing human-rights lawyer Somchai Neelapaijit who was abducted several years ago and still the missing person.
Pratabjit said in the panel that ‘Actually I do not know how to share opinion on this topic since Thai society has never ever attempted to make any lesson from any incident, therefore we could not assume that we have yet had any lesson to learn from this incident since the history is not yet revised.’ Indeed, it’s unfinished business, truth yet prevail. How could we have a lesson?
Mr.Adul Kiewboriboon, chair of the May 1992 Committees of Heroes Relatives, spoke on that day that “We can forgive but we never and will not forget, we still tirelessly seek for the truth, we never blamed the military, we just want to get the bones of our loved ones back, we just want to know where they are?”
17 years gone, all of missing heroes would been dead but that is not important for them now,
for the suffering relatives, only the truth about the missing ones will liberate them from pain and unresolved feeling.Impunity! impunity! impunity! impunity! that’s always the tradition in Thailand isn’t it? Why? No such power-holders have to take responsibility for the missing, killed and injured victims happened by/for political cause?
On Tuesday May 19th, Prime Minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva, was submitted a letter of request by the May 1992 Committees of Heroes’ Relatives on the matter of the container found in the Cholburi Sea, the relatives wanted the Government to investigate the truth; what are in the mysterious container? That’s all. They do not want something else even an apology if the assumption is proved true.
Long long time, there have been rumors that the fishermen who have found somethings related to the bodies of human being around the container under the sea. These rumors connected to the assumption that the container was thrown into the sea by the military after the anti-dictatorship protesters shot dead during the uprising in May 1992. No one could prove this rumor for 17 years.
To simply solve this mystery, why is it too difficult to get the answer if the bones of heroes are in there?
It is absolutely worthy and meaningful to find. Lot of budget to be spent? No it is never too much to revise the history of Black May which more than 300 victims made disappeared NOT only 30-40 as claimed by Thai Government.
But what I heard today is not encouraging because Prime Minister spoke on TV show saying that ‘container not related to May 1992 bloodshed’ (see news in http://www.nationmultimedia.com/news/30102846/PM-says-container-not-related-to-May-1992-bloodshe)
This statement would have made hope of all relatives quickly gone once again.
Before finalizing it, why should not we prove it first?Media should be urged to keep asking authorities questions on this mission.
We do not have anything to be afraid of , truth is not such thing we have to fear for, is it?
How long we are still kept with so the secret and undisclosed stories?
How can we move forward without revise and make it as real history?
Let’s finish it each one. Do not let the unfinished history haunting us again and again.
Please just get it off the sea or go deep to the bottom and show us what are in there. If there are really the bones of human beings to be found, no matter they were heroes or not, please do not let them drowned in there forever.

“I do not think there is a word for evil in Buddhism. I think this is something you must ask real Buddhist scholars. But we speak of ill will, we speak of ignorance, we speak of greed, but we don’t speak of evil as such. There is no evil, just stupidity.”

May I share Thai people to commemorate the day of Pridi Banomyong, a highly-revered Thai revolutionist, former Prime Minister and Senior Statesman of Thailand, and named one of the world great personalities of the century by the UNESCO in 2000. May 11th in 1900 was the year he was born. He died in Paris, France in May 1983. He was one of the great but forgotten man. Thais should have learned more about his life and contribution to the country. His life is such an inspiration.
The sentence above is referred from the book, The Free Thai Movement: the Ideal That Lives on (2003), one of the authors, Phra Paisarn Visalo, mentioned the Buddhist saying that Pridi Banomyong quoted at the end of his first and only novel, The King of the White Elephant, that “there is no greater happiness than peace”
Though his novel put on the story of war but the essence is about peace, creating the mutual goodwill and refraining from vengeful feeling. He wrote this novel when the second World War had been continued in Europe which forced his country to play a role in the conflict. Pridi found Free Thai Movement during WWII which saved his country afterward. Pridi is survived by the individuals who have conviction in democracy and the equal well-being of the people.
Hope the inspiration of Pridi’s life remains in Thai/Siamese spirit.

May 10th, 2009Freedom of expression&press freedom, Media&journalism, Politics, UncategorizedListen and talk to the other person in a deep and loving way are not easy but do it to your own heart is even more difficult. When the head gets confused and the heart gets hurt, it distracts yourself from your own mind but to rely or depend on something that is out. It is not simply to just listen and talk to your mind deeply with a loving manner unless you do practice it regularly. Everyday, so many feelings and sensation arise to our mind either to satisfy or disappoint us. We cannot really control anything. Looking in your own heart, you may seek some solution if you do not completely sink in such hopeless mind but looking into Thai society, you do not see any solution that could bring Thailand out of the crisis in near future yet, of course true JUSTICE will definitely bring peace (which very difficult to gain) but to stabilize it we do need also a compassion and mutual understanding. The role of communications must fulfill. I believe in the power of communication, it can bring peace or war, though I have been doubted by the role of political media which highly enjoyed freedom producing hatred and condemnation, it went against the construction of peace within our own mind and society, however, I still insist that various kinds of medium shall be allowed to convey people’s concerns and diverse opinion, equally and fairly. Trying to stop people to speak or shout will even lead them to the incitement of violence. Why no one ever learned the simple lesson that trying to block expression means encouraging them to fight and sacrifice. The great lesson from May 1992 is still meaningful to think again. I am going to join the panel discussion on the occasion of 17 years of May 1992 at the 14 October Memorial building on this Sunday. I am going to talk about this. Currently, Thai Govt still does not allow the opponent voices, Red-shirted media to continue, I would urge Democrat Government and National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) to implement the policy that allows Red-shirted media to play its role based on its rights and freedom. Then NTC shall try to have both groups (Red and Yellow’s media) engaged to discuss the code of conduct for exercising free speech that should come with more respect and responsibility.
I know it is very idealistic but nobody has attempted to do it yet, it is worthy to try.
On Sunday 10th, May 2009, Red-shirt movement calls for a mobilization in town once again, it would lead to another incident or not, nobody knows. Hatred feeling has been so much reproduced since anti-Thaksin movement started in 2006, now anti-Democrat movement also has continued the hatred sensation within another group. Political media and speech have become tool to condemn and build hatred, it is powerful than the role to build love and harmony, obviously. Some people believe that conflict would lead to real change but I think that the compassion would do.
Before ending my note today, I would like to quote these sentences and contribute to Thai society, the power-holders, all stakeholders and every individuals.
“Love, friendship and respect do not unite people as much as a common hatred for something”
Anton Chehkov“Loving speech is an important aspect of practice. We say only loving things. We say the truth in a loving ways, with nonviolence. This can only be done when we are calm. When we are irritated, we may say things that are destructive. So when we feel irritated , we should refrain from saying anything. We can just breathe.” Thich Nhat Hanh

May 9th, 2009UncategorizedOn the occasion of Visakha Puja Day,the birth and death of Buddha and the birth of pure Dhamma,
I shall put some note about the teaching of Buddha, today I’d like to write about the loving speech.
….
Speech can be constructive or destructive.
When someone says, “I love you,” it may be a lie.
It may be just an expression of desire. We have to be attentive.
In the Buddhist tradition, Right speech is described as refraining from these actions:
(1) Not telling the truth. If it’s black, you say it’s white.
(2) Exaggerating. You make something up, or describe something as more beautiful than it actually is, or as ugly when it is not so ugly.
(3) Forked tongue. You go to one person and say one thing and then you go to other person and say the opposite.
(4) Filthy language. You insult or abuse people.…
If, in the community, you see that someone is having difficulty with someone else, you have to help right away. The longer things drag on, the more difficult they are to solve. The best way to help is to practice mindful speech and deep listening. Good communication can bring peace, understanding, and happiness to people.
…
Quoted from “Teaching on Love” written by a Vietnamese monk, Thich Nhat Hanh, 1998, p.77
My deep listening and loving speech to those white flowers..

May 4th, 2009UncategorizedI had a good weekend with a reunion of my youth’s time.
On Saturday 2nd May, I went with my best friend for a nice concert: 5oth Frames of Melody , Jae, Danupol Kaewkarn, a very popular singer since the time when I was just a teenager. I could sing along almost of his popular songs .
Long time ago I had not listened to his music and this was the first time for his live concert ever.
He is almost 50 years now, getting old but his voice is still perfect. I love so many sentimental songs written and sung by him such as Nid Neung Por, Sanrak, Oy Oy and etc.. It cherishes my nice teen memories.
I am happy that I made decision to go for this concert because I did not act like this for a long while, so it simply means that I am now having more free time, feeling more relaxed and putting myself back to literally who I was/am.
Since I faced with political and personal difficulties for many years, I went deeply down to do/be something contradicting to my true nature, I forgot, missed to do lot of things and distanced myself from somethings that I cannot explain well.
I am getting myself back gradually, unbelievable, it has taken me years, it took me so much dramatic pains as well to realize the truth within my own mind. Destiny just played games.
I now have had more stable moment to continue a self-reflection and gained missing part of myself back.
Life is always changing but we cannot change true nature within ourselves.
As same as we could not avoid our own karma but we can handle it our best with a strong goodwill.
We could try to be/do/act something we might not fully fit in but eventually we have to pause and turn the way back into the right track once we realized it.
I am happy again to embrace positive side of this world, the sweetness of nature and friendship despite this country and this world are facing so many hardship and problems, people are suffering all over the globe.
But I can build harmony, joy and peace from within myself.
Thais are also facing the political polarization and conflict is almost every corners, though, I still believe that politics could not ruin true friendship, compassion can always ease confrontation.
It is not easy to work or to live in this country from now on but it is our home ain’t it? We cannot run any where.
Out there, lot of friends, colleagues and many people I know and care for are struggling for what they have faith for.
I do respect and admire everyone from every camps.
But I had better not put myself into something/anything I am not certain with and fit in it well.
I thought I knew things which I highly engaged before but I am now glad just to be an observer.
It does not mean that I will not involve I still do but in a very different way.
My close friend is facing death threat for his political believe and stand, though I disagree with him in many points but I always wish him all the best I could. I do not want to see him get hurt or attacked. Politics always make people to pay for a high price. May I pray that no one get hurt again.
I do not figure exactly where should I stand in this political battle but I admire those who tirelessly committed to pursue his/her conviction.
For me, the good idea is: taking time to consider what shall be the best position to do to serve the causes and also allow and encourage myself to do other things that compromise and fulfill my own heart.
Life is beautiful if we look at it that way, so to this world.
After having been working on political activism for almost 15 years, I’ve learned so many wonderful stories.
From now on, I shall do what I believe that is useful for the others but lead my life in to the mode that also serves the true nature of myself. The missing side that I lost it somewhere quite a long while. It is the time to revive it.
This year is special time for me. I think I am really a grown-up, though it seems a bit too late to recognize that.
The rest of my life is still an exciting journey, I lost and found myself here and there.
But right here right now, I am here and I am now once again. Ready to move on to the next episode of life.
